BUILDING BRIDGES

Building Bridges for 19 Years Through Frankfurt’s Only English Daily Tour

A new chapter, 19 years in: reflections from the new owner

For almost 19 years, Frankfurt on Foot has been the only English-language daily walking tour in the city — a small but remarkable tradition that has continued almost every single day, rain or shine. The spirit of the company has always been clear: we love this city, and we love the people who come to explore it with us.

This May, I had the honor of taking over the company from Jo and Dave, who built Frankfurt on Foot with care, curiosity, and a deep respect for the travelers who join our tours. Their trust means the world to me. They adopted Frankfurt with genuine affection and made it their mission to introduce visitors to its rich history — including its Jewish heritage, cultural traditions, and the stories that make this city so special.

One of Jo’s greatest gifts has always been her ability to find wonderful guides — people who care deeply about the city and the guests they meet. Their passion is the reason Frankfurt on Foot has remained the city’s only English daily tour for nearly two decades. Our guides don’t just recite facts; they share stories, answer questions, and help visitors feel at home in a place that may be entirely new to them.

If you had asked me ten years ago whether I’d ever become a city tour guide, I would have laughed. But getting to know Jo, the guides, and the spirit of this company changed everything. I discovered how much I love showing people a city and culture I care about — welcoming curious travelers, building bridges across cultures, and helping people see Frankfurt through new eyes.

So on the 19th anniversary of Frankfurt on Foot, I want to express my gratitude. To Jo and Dave — thank you for building something truly special and for trusting me to carry it forward.

So on the 19th anniversary of Frankfurt on Foot, I want to express my gratitude.

To Jo and Dave — thank you for building something truly special and for trusting me to carry it forward.

To our amazing guides, Annika, Hannes, Jen, Jo, Justin Philip, Ulla— thank you for your enthusiasm, your knowledge, and the heart you bring to every tour.

And to our guests — thank you for walking with us, asking questions, sharing stories, and reminding us why this work matters.

As a small business owner, I’m humbled and excited to continue this journey. Here’s to the next chapter — to new connections, new stories, and many more years of showing people the city we love.

See you on the next tour,

Anne
